Simion(AUR):Continent that cannot defend its borders, economy and identity will not remain global power

AUR chairman George Simion declared on Saturday, at the European Economic Forum in Cluj, that Europe risks losing its status as a global power if it cannot protect its borders, economy and identity, according to a statement from the party.

Simion criticized the economic model promoted in recent decades at the European Union level, arguing that it has led to the weakening of national economies and the creation of dangerous strategic dependencies. He stated that European citizens have been presented with policies as „progress” that have contributed to deindustrialization and loss of competitiveness.

„Romanians and other nations in the European Union were told to give up certain values, and this was called progress. We were told that our model was outdated, and now Europe depends on Chinese production, on others for defense, and on unstable regions for essential energy resources,” said George Simion, vice-president of The European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR) Party, according to the same statement.

The AUR leader warned that a continent that no longer produces and cannot protect its strategic interests risks losing its relevance at a global level.

„A continent that cannot defend its borders, economy and identity will not remain a global power,” he stressed.

Simion advocated for reducing taxes, stimulating entrepreneurship, and relaunching major economic and industrial projects.

„Europe must become a continent that builds again. We must invest in infrastructure, energy, industrial capacity and technological innovation. These represent the foundation of our civilization,” declared the AUR leader.

Simion added that economic prosperity cannot be built exclusively through regulations and bureaucracy, but by supporting those who produce value and development.
